When I accept a commission, I will use a photo of your
pet that you provide to create a one of a kind oil painting
set to your specifications. You can take your own photos
(see Tips below). Or if you prefer, I can come to you and
take my own pictures of your pet.

Once we are in agreement on the picture, I will need to
know your color preferences, including overall tone and
background color. My main goal is to capture the
personality of your pet. There is no request too crazy
either. If you can think it, I can do it! I challenge your
creativity!
If you have a location in mind (where it will be hung) you
should also take that into consideration.  If it is for a gift,
what is the person's favorite color? The more information
you can provide the better. I will work closely with you to
make sure we are on the same page. At your request I
can also work up a sketch for you to show the
composition and color scheme.

In most cases, I can usually have a painting completed in
about two weeks, including drying time.
Tips on taking your own pictures

A tired dog is a happy dog! Take your pet out for a
long walk or run before trying to snap some pictures.
Not only is that panting smile adorable, but he or she
will be more willing to cooperate.

Consider the time of day and the lighting. The best
time is in the afternoon around 4-5pm in the
summertime. High noon is often too much light and
can wash the image out too much. You should have
the brightest light to your back. If you are inside, try
taking the picture by a window to get the best light. A
flash is not usually recommended because it washes
out too much detail.

Think about composition. Make sure you are
capturing all the body parts you want to show like the
tail and legs in the picture frame.

Try to get a clear shot of your dog's eyes. The eyes
are number one for showing personality.

Be Patient! Sometimes I have to take over fifty
pictures to get that perfect shot. Don't give up if your
dog won't cooperate at first. If he really starts to get
irritated, maybe try again another day.
Try to use a camera with decent resolution. 150 -300
dpi is fine. If you are not using a digital camera, just
be sure you take the picture close enough to see
detail.

Use treats! Its a guaranteed way to get a happy face!
